The Importance of Understanding the Difference Between Marketing and Branding in Video Content

Image of the word marketing spelled with scrabble letters

Video content is a powerful tool for marketing and branding, but it's important to understand the difference between the two in order to use it effectively. Marketing is all about promoting and selling products or services, while branding is about building and maintaining the image of a business. In this post, we'll explore the role that both marketing and branding play in video content and how businesses can use video to achieve their goals. Whether you're looking to drive short-term sales or build long-term brand awareness, understanding the difference between marketing and branding is crucial for success.

Marketing refers to the activities a business undertakes to promote and sell its products or services. It involves identifying the target audience for a business's offerings and developing strategies to reach that audience. Marketing includes a wide range of activities such as advertising, public relations, sales, and more. The goal of marketing is to generate leads and drive sales.

Branding, on the other hand, is the process of creating and promoting a unique identity for a business. It involves developing a brand name, logo, and other visual elements that will be associated with the business. A strong brand can help a business stand out in a crowded market, build customer loyalty, and increase the value of the business. The goal of branding is to create a positive association with the business in the mind of the consumer.

When using video content, it's important to understand the role that both marketing and branding play. Marketing videos are typically focused on promoting a specific product or service and are designed to drive sales. They may include calls to action, such as "Buy now!" or "Sign up for a free trial." Marketing videos should be designed to effectively communicate the value of the product or service to the target audience and persuade them to make a purchase.

Branding videos, on the other hand, are focused on building and maintaining the image of a brand. They may tell a brand's story, showcase its values, or highlight its products or services in a more subtle way. The goal of branding videos is to create a positive association with the brand in the mind of the viewer and to build long-term brand awareness and loyalty.

If you're looking to create video content for your business's marketing or branding efforts, look no further than Wildwoods Creative! We offer video production services that can help you effectively reach and engage your target audience. By using a combination of both marketing and branding videos, we can help your business build a strong brand and drive sales. How can Therapists Create Effective Marketing Content?

When it comes to marketing, therapists often struggle to find the right content. After all, they are working in a field that is very personal and often sensitive in nature. It can be difficult to find the right words to reach potential clients without coming off as too pushy or unprofessional.

The good news is that there are some key tips and tricks that therapists can use to make their marketing content more effective.

First, therapists should focus on understanding the needs of their target audience. It’s important to know what kind of problems people are struggling with and how therapy can help them. This understanding can help therapists create content that is relevant and interesting to their audience. Not all therapists are the same, nor is their audience. Find out what works and expand on that (this goes with point 3).

Second, therapists should be aware of the different types of marketing channels available to them. Social media, email, and other digital platforms can be powerful tools for reaching potential clients. Therapists should research the different channels to determine which is most appropriate for them and their audience. It’s important to start with one strategy before moving to another. It can be very easy to get overwhelmed by doing too much at the same time.

Third, therapists should use data to improve their marketing content. The use of analytics can help therapists understand what kind of content is resonating with their audience and make adjustments accordingly. While this may not seem like the most fun tip, this will be the most important. Learning what works and what doesn’t is imperative.

Finally, therapists should use storytelling to craft compelling content. People are more likely to connect with content that is relatable and tells a story. By making their marketing content more personal and engaging, therapists can make a stronger connection with their audience. This can be done through many ways, but I have found that using video is one of the best strategies for really conveying a story.

By following these tips, therapists can make their marketing content more effective and reach more potential clients. It may take some trial and error to find the right content, but with the right approach, therapists can make their marketing content more successful.

5 Essential Elements of Successful Visual Storytelling For Therapists

Visual storytelling is the art of utilizing visuals to communicate stories, emotions, and information effectively. It can be expressed through social media, graphic novels, videos, visual notes, animations and numerous other forms. This way of conveying messages has a powerful and lasting effect on the audience and allows them to build a deep connection with the storyteller. Visual storytelling is present in all aspects of our lives and serves as an indispensable tool for making those stories truly come to life.

Visual storytelling is powerful because it is so easy for us to understand and absorb the information. Our brains are designed to understand and take meaning from stories, by using their structure, tone, narrative, characters, and references. This means there are many chances for storytelling to add engagement, meaning, and information, and our brains can process it all and put it together as complex, memorable ideas.

Visual storytelling has numerous advantages, and the primary one is the capacity to captivate our attention. Plenty of stats back up the idea that we have become increasingly difficult to maintain focus, yet finding reliable sources to support these numbers can be tricky. Nevertheless, we can all concur that there is abundant rivalry for our attention at this time and thus is how visual storytelling's capacity to attract and amuse gives it an edge over various other competing interests.

So what are some tips for better Visual Storytelling…?

1.Start with a compelling story: A great story is essential for an engaging visual story. Visual storytelling should have a clear beginning, middle and end. Focus on telling one story at a time and make sure it has an arc or conflict that needs to be resolved. For marketing purposes this may not look like traditional storytelling, but even for a quick video, the elements of a story can still be present.

2. Keep it short and sweet: As attention spans continue to shrink, keep your visual storytelling as brief as possible. Focus on the key point, provide succinct information and use fewer words. You may want to focus on the “hook” which gets to an interesting quickly and then allows the viewer to keep watching.

3. (For Videos) Leverage sound and music to create a mood and atmosphere: Adding sound and music to your visuals can help create a mood and atmosphere for viewers. Sound effects like waves at the beach for example can evoke emotion in the viewer

4. Practice: Like any skill, practice makes perfect. Take some time to experiment with different visuals and placement so you can tell powerful stories through visuals.

5. Create an emotional reaction: Use visuals to evoke an emotional reaction and make an impact on your viewers. Even for marketing work, there is still an importance to create an emotional reaction. This can be done in the call to action stage, where you evoke emotion for the viewer to buy quickly before it’s too late.

While these 5 things above are all important, more expansive lists can be made. It’s important to remember that it’s important to work on mastering one thing at a time and not let this overwhelm you. A great example of what visual storytelling can look like is this video that I made for Lake Area Counseling (Click Here).

It’s Okay to Have Fun Making Marketing Videos

Marketing videos for therapists

Sometimes I think the word fun and marketing just don’t go together. Or at least that’s the way that it seems…

Marketing does require strategy. Especially if you are a business, owner or entrepreneur, it’s so important to make videos that really communicate not only your brand, but in essence who you are, and what makes you stand out. Not only that, you have to be consistent with posting, be consistent with making creative content that’s not copying someone else, and also maintain your business in the meantime.

Something that I can fully relate with, is feeling obligated to make videos to the point where a lost fun. There was a time where I was being consistent with making YouTube videos for marketing. It was a very fun experience, but at the same time it became some thing that was very challenging as well. I got to the point where I just felt burned out making videos because they just weren’t reaching the people that I thought they needed to reach. Looking back now and I recognize that that was a very shortsighted viewpoint of what videos are supposed to do. After I took a break for making videos. I had a few clients with my counseling practice that actually watched some of the videos and chose me. Is there a counselor, because I was very genuine and honest in the videos that I put out.

I remember one of the things that a client told me is that he could get a good vibe off of who I was personally just by the way, I presented myself in the video. Hearing this person say that really meant so much to me, and actually meant more than any subscription, or like.

This is just a reminder that sometimes the payoff might not be right away. The payoff might be down the road and the work you put in now really will stay there and be rewarding. You just don’t know what the outcome will be or when it will happen. that’s why it’s so important to have fun in the moment creating content and videos that will help market yourself but at the same time rewards you while you’re making them.

So go out and have funSo go out and have fun making some content and really do an analysis on what it is that's going to bring you more joy in the moment and set you up for success in the future.

Small Town…Big Dreams

Downtown Lake Charles, over a year after Hurricane Laura

The world gets so busy, it’s so easy to get lost in it. Even in our small town of Lake Charles, Louisiana, it can feel the same. Busy. Rushed. Small but big at the same time.

I could go on and on here, and I’m sure you could relate on some levels. It’s especially hard to stand out in a town, or area that doesn’t necessarily see your vision. And that’s okay, but it takes a lot of work.

But this isn’t a sad story. This is a story of perseverance. Drive. Seeing an opportunity and going for it.

Abandoned parking garage in Lake Charles, LA.

Lake Charles is a good place. Also a tough place. It’s an industry town, so it’s pretty hard for creatives and people in other professions. It can be challenging, but i’ve seen people rise up and make really great things here, out of nothing…Myself included.

See, I am also a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) here in Lake Charles. I stumbled upon videography during the beginning of the pandemic, and fell in LOVE! I found another way to be creative, other than music. Since then, I’ve continued to learn principles, the power of story, and how by using video can really be a game changer. It fully transformed my practice, allowing clients to find me, get a “feel” for me before they even scheduled an appointment. It has been truly amazing.

Video has the potential to tell a story in a completely different way!

So this blog is about big dreams. I have dreamed for a while now about being able to help other business owners stand out. That is what I have created here, on this website. It’s my go to…to STAND OUT! It’s so important in the world we live in to stand out, not only from a marketing perspective, but for your clients. Because I used video, clients were able to find a good fit for a therapist. Clients tell me that they struggle to sort through all the listings and know which one to choose.

How can your clients find you if you don’t communicate your message?????

In the recent months, I’ve connected with other therapists & counselors to offer video work and marketing work, to help them clarify their message. To help them stand out to their clients. I’ve taken some killer photos for their websites and social media. The feedback has been nothing short of AMAZING. Because it truly does matter to have the best content for your clients. It’s not just about making the therapists look amazing, but also them being their true authentic selves to their clients. That is what this is about. It’s not just about marketing, branding. It’s not always about getting the business. Yes…that is important, but in order to get, you have to give.

So I encourage you, stand out. Do something different. Don’t only do it for yourself, but for your clients, your customers. Do it to BE DIFFERENT!
